CFK / FOUNDRY ATHLETICS EXHIBITION

Attention all CrossFit Kingston/Foundry Athletics athletes!!!

Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting Exhibition

Date: Saturday April 13/13

This will be an open event, which means everyone is welcome to lift regardless of strength level. There will be a men’s and a women’s division. We will be using a formula, Wilks formula, to determine winners for men and women in Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting categories. The formula takes into account an individual’s weight.

Here is an example:

Lifter A (200 lbs): Snatch - 180; Clean & Jerk - 235 -- Wilks = 119.684
Squat - 325; Bench - 250; Deadlift - 380 -- Wilks = 275.417
Total = 395.101

Lifter B (165 lbs): Snatch - 165; Clean & Jerk - 210 -- Wilks = 117.382
Squat - 300; Bench - 210; Deadlift - 365 -- Wilks = 283.224
Total = 400.606

Lifter C (120 lbs): Snatch - 120; Clean & Jerk - 180 -- Wilks = 127.410
Squat - 170; Bench - 135; Deadlift - 210 -- Wilks = 218.720
Total = 346.130

As you can see, the lightest lifter would win the Olympic lifting portion of the event but finish 3rd overall. The middle lifter would win the powerlifting portion of the event (and the entire event) even though he/she lifted less total weight than the heavier person.

Belts, knee sleeves (not wraps), wrist wraps, elbow sleeves, singlets, regular running shoes (including Chuck's) and weightlifting shoes are permitted. Anything not listed here is not permitted.

The format will be as follows:

Weigh-in starting at 07:30

Standards for Olympic lifts explained

Warm-up

Olympic lifting (snatch then clean and jerk) starting at 09:00

1.5 – 2 hour break

Standards for powerlifting lifts explained

Warm-up

Powerlifting (squat, bench press, and deadlift)

Awards ceremony

We will also require volunteers to help load and unload weights, act as spotters, and people to cheer the athletes on. Please come out and support your friends and co-athletes!

There will be a sign-up sheet at the gym and you can leave your name in the comments section below expressing you're interest and what role you want to take. Competitor or volunteer.

We have learned a great deal about recovering from narcotic addiction and have found several methods that work well. This is information drug treatment programs would not want out since it would cause them to lose a large number of patients. Would it be better to start with a blog or a website? We eventually hope to make this into an alternative business that would help people get of methadone clinics. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as there is a dire need for this information. Thank you..
